Welcome Wagon & Sufjan Stevens!

Welcome Wagon & Sufjan Stevens!
That’s right!  They came through and played at Miller Chapel here at Princeton Seminary.  We decided to take Espen and see how long he would last, and we made around an hour or so.  And, wouldn’t you know it but Sufjan Stevens was playing with them (orange shirt, on the banjo)....

Across the board…

Across the board…
I’ve been involved in many different photographic endeavors recently, ranging (as stated above) across the board.  Here’s a quick preview of a couple things I’ve been seeing through my camera.
I had the great opportunity to work with one of Cherice’s professors, Dr. Charlesworth, for whom I photographed a couple of his ancient pieces....

April 16, 2009 - 1:05 am Bryan Rupp - Joel, thanks for putting up some of the shots you did with the professor, I was excited to see how those came out with the boxes that you bought. Looks great man! A friend and I were just discussing how we needed to get a hold of the dead sea scrolls and just read them ourselves to clear some things up. I think you are really my only chance so if you can just pass those baby's on my way once you have them that would be awesome! Don't worry about insuring them in the mail...I've never had the postal service lose anything and plus that saves at least a few dollars. Hope all is well friend, so looking forward to you and your family living here again! Great work on the birthday party pictures as well. Did you touch up those blue eyes on that one kid? They are incredible!

April 16, 2009 - 12:35 am Joel - Thanks, Sally! I think a lot of these were actually shot with a 24mm lens, so the portrait length is not always needed, although it can help at times. =)

April 15, 2009 - 2:10 pm Sally - I love the expressive baby blues on that sweet baby. Beautiful photos Joel! Your photo makes me want to use my portrait lens for more day to day stuff.

Visit to the East Coast…

Visit to the East Coast…
There’s a really good explanation for the long delay on any posts, and that is due to an expected visit from my folks.  They hadn’t been out to Princeton before, so we had a great time showing them not only around the local area, but up in NY and down in...

March 31, 2009 - 1:02 am Bryan Rupp - Joel, so great to talk to you tonight man, as always! I'm so thankful for your friendship and thankful to be able to share the journey of photography with such a great friend. Hope you have a great evening man and I'm really looking forward to you guys being back!

March 30, 2009 - 6:52 am Cherice - Of course, we could just say that Joel wasn't actually there and all we did was bring our handy-dandy friend, Tripod, since Joel's not in any of the pictures!! (Not that any of us know how to use your cameras well enough to get said pictures, but that's beside the point...) =)

Surprise snow storm in Princeton…

Surprise snow storm in Princeton…
Yep, we had some snow roll in on Sunday night and I got out for a few shots today before it completely melted for the season.  Here’s a few shots from around the Princeton Theological Seminary campus.

And, on another note.  As I eluded to in an a comment on a previous...

March 4, 2009 - 1:24 pm Bryan Rupp - We're already ready! Leah and I are so excited that you guys are coming back! Great snow shots Joel, I really like the bud on the tree branch. Enjoy the snow while you got it because there's none of that going on here, but it is however sunny and beautiful.

March 4, 2009 - 3:42 am alisa - WOOT! i mean, that's cool.
